There are two ways to create an AI Agent in Agent Studio: the Guided wizard (recommended) builds a working agent for you from a short description, while Build manually gives you a blank form to configure everything yourself.
Open Agents in the portal sidebar to reach the Agent Studio dashboard. Here you can see all of your agents, grouped into Active and Inactive, with totals at the top. You can search your agents, switch between card and list views, and open any agent to edit it.
To begin, click New agent (or Create your first agent if you don't have any yet). A Create an agent dialog lets you pick how to set up your agent — you can change any detail later.
The wizard creates a fully configured agent from a few details. You provide:
- Avatar — pick a built-in icon or upload your own image (PNG, JPG, WEBP or GIF, up to 2 MB).
- Agent name (required) — an internal label, e.g. "Bright Smile Receptionist". This is not read out to callers.
- Purpose (required) — a plain-language description of what the agent should do. Quick-fill chips are available for common purposes: Reception, Bookings, Lead intake, Support triage, Order status, and Outbound follow-up.
- Autofill from your website (optional) — paste your website address and the wizard pulls in industry and service details automatically.
- Industry (optional) — choose from suggestions such as Dental clinic, Restaurant, Plumbing trades, Real estate, Law firm or Auto repair.
- Services (optional) — choose what the agent should handle: Bookings, Lookups, Transfers, Quotes, Emergencies or After-hours.
Click Generate. Building usually takes 30–90 seconds, after which you'll have a ready-to-use agent with a personality, instructions and starter settings already filled in. You can refine everything afterwards — see Configuring Your Agent.
Choose Build manually to start from a blank form. You set:
- Name (required) — internal label, not shown to callers.
- Avatar — a built-in icon or an uploaded image.
- Voice — the voice the agent speaks with (you can preview each one).
- Description — shown on the agent's card in your dashboard.
- Goal — a short sentence about the agent's job.
- Personality — the tone and style of the agent.
- Instructions — the step-by-step process the agent follows on every call.
- Active on create — leave on to let calls route to the agent straight away, or turn off to keep it paused while you finish setting it up.
Click Create agent to open it in the Agent Hub. The same fields can be edited at any time — see Configuring Your Agent.
